Accessing the Gateways

This section describes how to access the Design Gateway and the Runtime Gateway. Typically, the Design Gateway starts with no model loaded. However, at start-up you can have Isight load the last model that you had open in the Design Gateway.

Important: If you are using Isight on a Linux operating system, you should not start Isight if you are using the “root” account. You must log in as a non-root user before starting Isight.

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Windows: Click the Start button, point to All Programs, Isight x.x, and click Design Gateway or Runtime Gateway.

    • Windows: From the command line, navigate to the Isight installation directory, and execute the gateway or the rt_gateway file:

      <Isight_install_directory>\win_b64\code\bin\
In the default installation directory on 64-bit Windows, for example, you would execute the following file:
      C:\SIMULIA\Isight\version\win_b64\code\bin\gateway.exe

    • Linux: From the command line, navigate to the Isight installation directory, and execute the gateway or the rt_gateway file:
      <Isight_install_directory>/linux_a64/code/command/

    Tip:

To access the Runtime Gateway from the Design Gateway, do one of the following:

    • Execute a model or component.

Isight opens the Runtime Gateway, loads the model, and executes the model or component.

    • From the View menu, select Runtime Gateway.

Isight opens the Runtime Gateway with the current model loaded, but does not execute the model.

Note: When executing from the command prompt, you can also use several command line arguments. For more information, see Setting Gateway Options on the Command Line.

Important: If you have a previous version of Isight on your computer, you will be prompted to migrate your database (giving you access to data from previous jobs executed in an earlier version of Isight) or to create an empty database without access to your previous data.

  2. If you have defined a SIMULIA Execution Engine connection profile, select the connection profile from the profile list.

    1. Specify any connection details, as desired. For more information on connection profiles, see About Connection Profiles.
    2. Click OK.

  3. If you are using Isight for the first time and you are starting the Design Gateway in a standalone environment, click Yes to publish components to the library. You will not see this message the next time you start the Design Gateway.
