Customizing the X–Y plot axis tick mode

Click the Scale tab to customize the tick mode of the X- and Y-axes of an X–Y plot. The tick mode options enable you to control the number of major and minor tick marks that appear along either axis. By default, Abaqus/CAE computes the minimum and maximum axis values based on the minimum and maximum data points included in the plot.

Using X–Y plot axis options
  1. Locate the Tick Mode options.

Select OptionsXY OptionsAxis; or click , which is located with the X–Y plotting tools in the Visualization module toolbox. Click the Scale tab in the dialog box that appears.

The Tick Mode options appear at the bottom of the Scale page.

  2. From the X Axis or Y Axis fields, highlight one or more axes.

  3. Choose the method of computing the interval between major tick marks along the selected axis.

From the Major options, choose one of the following:

    Automatic

Abaqus computes the interval between major tick marks along the selected axis, rounding to provide reasonable intervals.

    By increment

The Tick increment text field becomes available, and you can enter the increment between major tick marks along the selected axis.

    By count

The Number of ticks per decade field becomes available, and you can increase or decrease the total number of major tick marks to appear between the minimum and maximum values along the selected axis.

  4. Specify the number of minor tick marks.

From the Minor ticks option, click the Ticks per increment arrows (for linear or decibel-based axes) or the Ticks per decade arrows (for logarthmic axes) to specify the number of minor tick marks between each major tick mark.

  5. Click Dismiss to close the Axis Options dialog box.
