Configuring diagnostic printing

Select OutputDiagnostic Print to configure the diagnostic messages that Abaqus writes to the message file (for Abaqus/Standard) or to the status file (for Abaqus/Explicit) and reports to the Job module during an analysis. If the analysis of your model fails or produces unexpected results, you can examine these messages and look at a description of the analysis. (For more information, see Diagnostic printing.)

Context:

Abaqus/Standard also writes most diagnostic information to the output database for use in the Visualization module. However, the diagnostic information written to the output database is not affected by the diagnostic print settings. (For more information, see Viewing diagnostic output.”)

  1. From the main menu bar, select OutputDiagnostic Print.

The Edit Diagnostic Print dialog box appears with a list of all the steps in the current model.

  2. In the Frequency column, specify the frequency at which you want diagnostic printing data written for each step. (This option is not available for Abaqus/Explicit analyses.)

  3. Click in the other columns to request specific diagnostic information during a particular step.

A check mark appears indicating that type of diagnostic printing has been enabled during the step. Click in the column again to turn off diagnostic printing.

  4. When you have finished configuring your diagnostic printing, click OK to exit the Edit Diagnostic Print dialog box.
