Rounding vertices in a wire

Select ShapeWireRound from the main menu bar to “round,” or fillet, a vertex between two edges in a wire part.

  1. From the main menu bar, select ShapeWireRound.

    Abaqus/CAE displays prompts in the prompt area to guide you through the procedure.

    Tip: You can also round a vertex between two edges in a wire part using the tool, located with the wire tools in the Part module toolbox. For a diagram of the tools in the Part module toolbox, see Using the Part module toolbox.

    Abaqus/CAE prompts you to select the vertices you want to round and displays prompts in the prompt area to guide you through the procedure.

  2. Select the vertices to round. You can ShiftClick additional vertices to add them to your selection, and CtrlClick a selected vertex to unselect it.

    Tip: If you are unable to select the desired vertices, you can use the Selection toolbar to change the selection behavior. For more information, see Using the selection options.

  3. When you have finished selecting vertices, click Done in the prompt area.

    A default radius appears in the prompt area.

  4. If necessary, type a new radius in the text field in the prompt area.

  5. Click Done to accept the new radius and complete the rounding process.

    Abaqus/CAE redraws the part with the selected vertices rounded.
