Defining porous material failure criteria

You use the Suboption Editor to define failure in a porous metal plasticity model. See Failure criteria in Abaqus/Explicit, for more information.

  1. Create a material model as described in Defining a porous metal plasticity model.”

  2. From the Suboptions menu in the Edit Material dialog box, select Porous Failure Criteria.

    A Suboption Editor appears.

  3. Enter a value for the Total volume void fraction at total failure, fF>0. The default is 1.

  4. Enter a value for the Critical void volume fraction (threshold of rapid loss of stress carrying capacity), fc≥0. The default is fF.

  5. Click OK to return to the Edit Material dialog box.
