What is material calibration?

Material calibration is the process of deriving Abaqus material behaviors like elasticity and plasticity from sets of material test data. You can create material calibrations in three general steps:

  • Create data sets or import data sets into Abaqus/CAE.

  • Process these data sets using filters and tools that enable you to scale, smooth, and truncate the data and to convert the data between nominal and true forms.

  • Derive material properties such as Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, or Mullins effect from your data sets.

To begin a new material calibration, double-click Calibrations in the Model Tree. In the Create Calibration dialog box that appears, enter a calibration name and click OK. Abaqus/CAE adds the new calibration to the Model Tree.
