Removing Outlying Data Points from Scatter Plot Graphs

You can remove outlying points from a data set to make the scatter plot graph easier to read or to correct generated statistics that correspond to the data set.

  1. From the model explorer on the left side of the Runtime Gateway, select the component you want to examine, and click the Data Analysis tab.

  2. Click the 2D Scatter Plots or 3D Scatter Plots subtab.

Isight displays the scatter plot graphs on the subtab.

  3. Select an individual scatter plot, and click the button on the right side of the subtab.

  4. To select points using the options on the left side of the display area (between the scatter plot graphs and the model explorer), do one of the following:

    • To highlight a specific point with crosshairs, click the button. You can select multiple points by pressing the CTRL key and clicking the points.

    • To select all points within a specified range, click the button. Once this button is clicked, clicking and dragging within a scatter plot creates a subarea, which is outlined. Releasing the mouse cursor selects all of the points in the specified subarea.

  5. Right-click anywhere in the scatter plot, and do one of the following:

    • Select Exclude / Selected Runs to remove the selected points.

Isight removes the points and updates the scatter plot graph.

    • Select Non-Selected Runs to retain only the selected points and to remove all other points.

Isight updates the scatter plot graph.
