Opening iSIGHT (Classic) Description Files in the Design Gateway

You can directly access and translate iSIGHT (classic) description files using a Multi-Disciplinary Optimization Language (MDOL) in the Isight Design Gateway. When accessed, the MDOL translator converts the description files into Isight models (*.zmf files) that can then be configured and used in the Design Gateway.

Note: You can also run the mdolTranslator file. When executed, a dialog box appears that allows you to select the description file that will be translated. Once created, the corresponding Isight model file is saved in the same directory as the original description file.

About MDOL Translator Limitations
  1. Review About MDOL Translator Limitations to ensure that the translation will work as expected.

  2. Open the Design Gateway as described in About the Gateways.

  3. From the Design Gateway File menu, select Open from Disk.

    The Open dialog box appears.

  4. From the Files of type list, select iSIGHT description files.

  5. Navigate to the description file you want to translate, and select it.

  6. Click Open.

A warning message appears, informing you that description files can only be partially translated as Isight models. For more information, see About MDOL Translator Limitations.

Note: If you receive an error message stating that the MDOL Translator cannot be started or the description file is not translated properly, verify that the location of iSIGHT on your system is defined in your Path environment variable. Both the executable directory for iSIGHT and the Perl directory (located in the utilities subdirectory of your iSIGHT installation directory) must be included in the Path environment variable. The iSIGHT executable directory is located in either the \bin\nt_5.x (Windows) or /bin (Linux) subdirectory. For more information, contact your local system administrator.

  7. Click OK.

The iSIGHT Description File Translator dialog box appears, showing you the progress of the translation. Once the description file is translated, it is loaded into the Design Gateway.

  8. Click OK to close the iSIGHT Description File Translator dialog box.

  9. Review the new model and adjust it as necessary.
