Selecting a SolidWorks File and Parameters

After you select and read the SolidWorks model file, the available input and output parameters are displayed.

  1. Double-click the SolidWorks component icon .

    The SolidWorks Component Editor appears.

  2. From the SolidWorks Component Editor, click the Parameter tab.

  3. Click Browse.

  4. Navigate to the SolidWorks model file you want to use, and click Open.

Note: There must not be a rebuild pending on the SolidWorks part/assembly you selected. In addition, the geometry must be meshed if the selected part/assembly is being used in a simulation.

  5. Click Read File.

For the component to read a SolidWorks model file, you must have SolidWorks installed on your system.

The Parameter Tree area is populated with the set of parameters that can be controlled by Isight.

Note: For the successful execution of the simulation, you must not delete the .xml file that is created when the SolidWorks model file is read.

You can expand or collapse the nodes in the Parameter Tree.

  6. From the Parameter Tree, click the node that contains the parameter you want to use.

The parameters that the selected node contains are displayed in the SolidWorks Parameters area.

  7. Select the parameters you want to use in your Isight model by doing any of the following:

    Option Description
Click the check box Select an individual parameter.
Select All Select all the parameters.
Unselect All Clear all the selected parameters.

  8. If you are working with a large number of parameters, you can sort the parameters by clicking the corresponding column header.

The first click sorts the column data in ascending order. The second click sorts the column data in descending order. A third click returns the data to its original unsorted state. The small arrow icons to the right of the column heading indicate the current sorting option.

  9. Add the selected parameters to the Isight Parameter area.

Click to add the selected parameters to the Isight Parameter area.

Click to remove the selected parameters from the Isight Parameter area.

You cannot edit the parameter name and value.

The variables added to the Isight Parameter area can be used in your Isight model.

  10. Click OK to save your changes and to return to the Design Gateway.
