Referencing a Remote Model

You can reference a model in a partner (remote) SIMULIA Execution Engine.

  1. Double-click the Reference component icon .

    The Reference Component Editor appears.

  2. From the Reference Component Editor, click Choose Model.

The Select Reference Model dialog box appears.

  3. From the Select Reference Model dialog box, expand the Remote Partner option on the left side of the dialog box.

When you select a partner, Isight performs a remote query to obtain a list of all the models on the remote SIMULIA Execution Engine that have shared attributes matching the local SIMULIA Execution Engine domain and the logged on user ID.

Note: If your SIMULIA Execution Engine environment does not yet have any partners established, the partners list appears empty and you cannot proceed. For information about defining partners for your SIMULIA Execution Engine environment, refer to the SIMULIA Execution Engine Federation (B2B) Guide.

  4. Click the model that you want to use.

Isight loads the model information, including the name, version, and parameters.

Note: The parameters that are displayed in the model are specified according to the model’s properties. For more information, see Setting Model Properties in the Isight User’s Guide.

  5. Verify that you have selected the correct model, and click Select Model.

The Reference Component Editor appears with the selected model’s information displayed.

The inputs and outputs of the remote service are read and used to populate the inputs and outputs of the local Reference component. The default input values are taken from the default values defined in the remote service.

  6. If necessary, change any input and output parameter values.

  7. Click OK to save your changes and to close the Reference Component Editor.

For more information about how reference models are handled by Isight and how the simulation process flow is affected, see Using Submodels and Referenced Models in the Isight User’s Guide. For more information about the SIMULIA Execution Engine Federation capabilities, refer to the SIMULIA Execution Engine Federation (B2B) Guide.

Note: Federated Reference models are not expanded/visible. You cannot see the internal parts of the model (e.g., components, simulation process flow, dataflow, parameters).
