Searching a Data Source

You can search for a string of text in your data source.

  1. Double-click the Data Exchanger component icon .

The Data Exchanger Component Editor appears.

  2. From the Data Exchanger Component Editor, verify that the correct data source appears in the Data Source area.

  3. Click the Find button.

    The Find dialog box appears.

  4. In the Find text box, type the text string for which you want to search, and click Next.

The Data Exchanger component searches for each line that contains the given string, not each instance of the string. The string, if found in the data source, is highlighted in orange in the Data Source area.

  5. Do one of the following, as desired:

    • Click Next to locate the next instance of the specified text string.

    • Click Clear to search for a new text string.

    • Click Close to close the Find dialog box and to return to the Data Exchanger Component Editor.

The General Text format uses the search string as the Find target for swipes as long as the swipe is close to the find string (currently within ten lines). To set the search target for the General Text format to a string shown on the editor, select the text to use as the search target; and click the Find button, or right-click and select Find.

  6. Click OK to save your changes and to close the Data Exchanger Component Editor.
