About the FEA Noise Check Option

The FEA Noise Check option allows you to determine if your Abaqus finite element model is modeling physics as expected and whether optimization is likely to be successful for the given simulation process flow for the given Abaqus model.

The option executes an independent noise study and provides related results, and it provides the following benefits:

  • Allows you to perform a noise check against a particular Abaqus component without changing the structure of your model as described in Executing a New Noise Analysis.

  • Allows you to quickly access previously run noise analyses without searching through your entire job database using the View results from a previous noise analysis option as described in Viewing Results from a Previous Noise Analysis.

The following figure shows an example of the FEA Noise Check interface.

The FEA Noise Check option executes a series of one-dimensional parameter scans using the Abaqus component. A new simulation process flow is constructed with a Noise Analysis component as the root component. The selected Abaqus component is placed within the Noise Analysis component’s subflow. This new simulation process flow is then executed via the Runtime Gateway. The simulation process flow on your Design Gateway is not changed.

The functionality provided by this option is identical to that provided in the Noise Analysis component. However, the FEA Noise Check option is often more convenient than using the Noise Analysis component. Instead of adding a Noise Analysis component to your model’s simulation process flow, you simply right-click the existing Abaqus component.

Note: This feature is available only with the Abaqus component. If you want to execute a noise analysis using another FEA code, you must place the code within the subflow of a Noise Analysis component.
